Representative Bresnahan Secures $1 Million Federal Appropriation for Dallas Area Wastewater Infrastructure
Federal funding amounting to $1 million has been directed to the Dallas Area Municipal Authority to support regional wastewater collection expansion. The allocation addresses aging conveyance infrastructure and aligns with wider federal resilience authorizations enacted under the Water Resources Development Act.
Federal community project funding totaling $1,000,000 was awarded to the Dallas Area Municipal Authority (DAMA) in northeastern Pennsylvania to modernize and expand its regional wastewater conveyance and collection assets. The appropriation was secured by Representative Rob Bresnahan as part of the Fiscal Year 2026 federal appropriations package.
Utility leadership noted that the funding represents a significant injection of federal support into a regional sewer network facing deferred maintenance and capacity constraints. The expansion will permit critical updates across major interceptors and lift stations, reducing infiltration and inflow while mitigating sanitary sewer overflow risks.
The municipal grant complements broader federal legislative efforts, including the bipartisan Water Resources Development Act of 2026. WRDA 2026 expands access to federal water resources programs, facilitating long-term flood resilience and wastewater utility modernization for vulnerable regional authorities.
