Nebraska Governor Highlights $7.5 Million for Ogallala Wastewater Facility Upgrades

Governor Jim Pillen joined local officials in Ogallala to highlight state resources supporting critical wastewater infrastructure improvements. The city is currently finalizing $7.5 million in financial assistance through Nebraska’s State Revolving Fund (SRF) programs. These funds are designated for the comprehensive upgrade of Ogallala’s wastewater treatment facility to ensure long-term operational efficiency.

The project is being managed in partnership with the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE). Director Jesse Bradley noted that these improvements are essential for maintaining compliance with environmental regulations and supporting the community's growth. The upgrades will focus on modernizing treatment processes and replacing aging components that have reached the end of their service life.

This announcement underscores the state's commitment to utilizing SRF resources to bolster local utilities. By providing low-interest financing, the state enables municipalities like Ogallala to undertake large-scale capital projects without placing an undue financial burden on local ratepayers.
